Overheating is one of the few Urus faults that punishes delay. A coolant temperature that climbs 15°C above normal on a Sheikh Zayed Road crawl is not a comfort issue — it is the first stage of a chain that ends with warped heads, a failed gasket or a heat-soaked turbocharger. The Urus is also one of the harder cars in Dubai to get diagnosed properly, because its cooling system is not a radiator and a thermostat. It is a set of separate circuits, each with its own pump, its own sensors and its own failure modes, and a workshop that treats it like a normal SUV will usually fix the symptom and miss the cause.

Why the Urus Cooling System Has More Than One Circuit
The Urus uses the EA825 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, shared in different states of tune with the Audi RS Q8, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Bentley Bentayga. It is a hot-V engine: both turbochargers sit inside the vee of the block, directly under the intake, which puts the hottest components in the least ventilated part of the engine bay.
To manage that, the car runs a high-temperature circuit for the engine itself, a separate low-temperature circuit for the water-to-air charge coolers, and additional oil-to-air or oil-to-water coolers for engine oil, the ZF eight-speed gearbox and the driveline. The Urus SE plug-in hybrid adds another loop again for the high-voltage battery and electric motor. Two owner habits accelerate this. The first is topping up with plain water when the level warning appears, which dilutes the additive package and raises the risk of internal corrosion. The second is shutting the engine down immediately after a hard drive, which cuts short the after-run cycle that circulates coolant through the turbochargers and lets residual heat soak into the bearing housings.
Stored cars have their own version of the problem. A Urus that sits for months in a Dubai garage develops dried seals, settled coolant and a corroded pump impeller, and it will often overheat within days of returning to use. If a car has been parked for a season, a proper pre-use inspection is worth more than any single repair.
The Signs Worth Acting On Early
Before a temperature warning appears, the car usually tells you something else first: a faint sweet smell after parking, a coolant level that needs topping every few weeks, a heater or AC that weakens at idle but recovers when moving, cooling fans that run loudly for longer than usual after shutdown, or a temperature needle that sits slightly higher in traffic than it used to. Any one of these justifies a pressure test.
Once you see steam, a rising gauge, reduced power or a stop warning, the correct action is to stop safely, switch off, and not open the expansion tank. Finally, look at the workshop itself: lift capacity for a 2.2-tonne SUV, clean handling of carbon-ceramic brake components during any front-end work, and a written quote that separates diagnosis, parts and labour.
