Carzilla is an independent American car repair workshop in Al Quoz Industrial Area 2. Our mechanics repair and service American cars, trucks and SUVs every day – from V8 engine and 8-speed and 10-speed gearbox repair to AC, air suspension, electrical faults and accident repair.
Every job starts with a free inspection and a written quote. Nothing is replaced until you approve it, and every completed job comes with Warranty on Repair. Free Pickup and Delivery* is available anywhere in Dubai.
American vehicles are built around large-displacement engines, heavy-duty automatic gearboxes and body-on-frame chassis. That engineering is tough, but it reacts to Dubai conditions in its own way. A Tahoe idling in Sheikh Zayed Road traffic at 45°C, a Wrangler driven on sand at the weekend, or a Charger doing short school runs all wear differently from the same car in the USA. Our American car repair specialists in Dubai know which faults belong to which engine and gearbox family, so the diagnosis is faster and the repair is right first time.
We service GCC-spec cars and US-imported vehicles, petrol V6 and V8 engines, supercharged SRT and Hellcat models, and electrified American vehicles. Whether you need a routine American car oil change, a check-engine light diagnosis, or a complete engine or gearbox rebuild, you get the same process: inspect, explain, quote, and repair only what you approve.
Carzilla is a multi-brand auto garage in Dubai, so if your household also runs a German or British car, one workshop can look after all of them. See every brand we cover on our specialist brands page.
Every service below is carried out in-house by our American car mechanics. No outsourcing, no guesswork, and a written estimate before work begins.
Ticking from the top end, misfires on light throttle, oil consumption and overheating in traffic are the engine faults we see most on American cars. Our engine mechanics diagnose AFM/DFM lifter failure on GM 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, MDS lifter and camshaft wear on 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI engines, cam phaser rattle and timing chain stretch on the Ford 3.5L EcoBoost, and oil filter housing leaks on the 3.6L Pentastar used by Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler. Cylinder head work, timing chain replacement and full engine rebuilds are done at our workshop.
Modern American cars use some of the most complex automatics on the road. We repair 8L90 and 8L45 torque converter shudder on Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac, harsh or erratic shifts on the 10-speed 10L80 and 10R80 used in GM and Ford trucks, the ZF-based 8-speed TorqueFlite in Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram, and the older 6L80. Each gearbox is filled with its own specified fluid – Dexron ULV, Mercon ULV or the correct 8-speed ATF – and adaptive shift values are relearned with diagnostic software after the service, which is the step most general garages skip.
Full-size American SUVs such as the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, Expedition and Navigator run a rear auxiliary AC system with long refrigerant lines under the body. Those lines, the rear evaporator and a sand-packed condenser are the usual reasons for warm air in Dubai summer. Our AC technicians run electronic leak detection, pull a deep vacuum and charge by weight with the correct refrigerant – R134a or R1234yf depending on the model year – instead of simply topping up gas.
We repair Magnetic Ride Control (MagneRide) dampers on Cadillac Escalade, GMC Denali and Corvette, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension on Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade, Quadra-Lift air suspension on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and adaptive suspension on the Lincoln Navigator. For solid-axle Jeeps we diagnose and fix steering shimmy at speed by checking the track bar, tie rod ends, ball joints and steering damper together, not one part at a time.
A loaded American SUV weighs between 2.5 and 3 tonnes, and stop-start Dubai traffic wears pads and discs quickly. Our brake specialists replace pads, discs and calipers, service Brembo systems on SRT, Hellcat and Corvette models, flush brake fluid, and fix steering-wheel judder under braking caused by uneven pad deposits on the discs.
Most modern American cars use electric power steering racks, while the Jeep Wrangler, heavy-duty Ram trucks and older American 4x4s use a recirculating-ball steering box. We repair heavy steering, play in the wheel, fluid leaks and EPS warning lights, and finish with a wheel alignment so the truck tracks straight.
We diagnose parasitic battery drain, start-stop AGM battery failure, body control module faults, the Chrysler TIPM power module, Cadillac CUE touchscreen faults, Uconnect and SYNC screen issues, and 48V eTorque systems on the Ram 1500. On Ford vehicles the battery monitoring system is reset after a battery change so the charging system works correctly.
Large American V8s hold around 7 to 8 litres of oil, and each manufacturer specifies its own standard: dexos1 Gen 3 for GM, Ford WSS-M2C specification oils, and Chrysler MS-6395 for Stellantis engines. Our minor and major service packages follow the manufacturer schedule, adjusted for Dubai heat and dust, with filters, fluid checks and a multi-point inspection included.
Desert driving puts heat and load into axles and transfer cases. We change front and rear differential oil, including limited-slip friction modifier where required, service transfer cases on Jeep Quadra-Trac and Selec-Trac, GM Autotrac and Ford 4WD systems, and replace leaking axle and pinion seals.
From bumper scrapes to full accident repair, our body shop restores American cars to factory finish with spectrophotometer colour matching. The Ford F-150 (2015 onwards), Expedition and Lincoln Navigator (2018 onwards) use aluminium body panels, which we repair separately from steel work with aluminium-specific tools to prevent corrosion.
Heavy SUVs and pickups need tyres with the right load index, and lifted or levelled trucks need alignment set to their real ride height. We supply and fit tyres, repair and refinish rims, balance wheels, reset TPMS sensors and carry out four-wheel alignment.
Buying a used American car in Dubai? Our pre-purchase inspection checks engine, gearbox, cooling, suspension, electronics and bodywork, reads stored fault codes in every module, and compares the VIN history. We also prepare cars for the annual RTA test.
We also offer car detailing, peelable paint, car upholstery, car modification and body kits for American trucks and muscle cars.
Each American brand has its own known faults. Open your brand to see what our mechanics check first.
On the 3.5L EcoBoost we check for cam phaser rattle on cold start and timing chain stretch. The 3.5L V6 in many Explorer and Edge models has its water pump inside the timing cover, so a failing pump can leak coolant into the engine oil – a job that needs the timing chain removed. 10R80 10-speed shift complaints are usually solved with fluid, software and an adaptive relearn. See our Ford repair page.
The most common Chevrolet faults we repair are AFM/DFM lifter failure on 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, 8-speed torque converter shudder at 50 to 80 km/h, and rear AC line leaks on the Tahoe and Suburban. Corvette owners can visit our Corvette repair page for C7 and C8 work, including the C8 dual-clutch gearbox.
GMC trucks share engines and gearboxes with Chevrolet, so the same lifter, oil pressure and transmission checks apply, plus MagneRide dampers on Denali trims. Read our GMC low oil pressure guide or visit the GMC repair page.
Cadillac work at our garage centres on Escalade MagneRide and air suspension, 6.2L V8 oil consumption and leaks, CUE infotainment screen faults and 10-speed gearbox service. Learn more in our guides on Cadillac air suspension failure signs and Cadillac oil leak or burning oil.
We repair 3.6L Pentastar oil filter housing leaks, HEMI lifter tick on 5.7L models, Quadra-Lift air suspension on the Grand Cherokee, and steering shimmy, track bar and steering box wear on the Wrangler and Gladiator. Off-road use also means regular differential and transfer case service through our drivetrain workshop.
HEMI 5.7L and 6.4L lifter and camshaft wear, supercharger service on SRT and Hellcat models, 8-speed TorqueFlite gearbox service, Ram eTorque 48V faults and older TIPM power module failures are our most frequent jobs. Visit our Dodge repair page or read about Dodge Charger engine overheating.
Lincoln shares its 3.5L EcoBoost and 10-speed gearbox with Ford, so timing chain, cam phaser and shift-quality checks apply. The Navigator also uses aluminium body panels and adaptive suspension. See our Lincoln repair page.
We keep classic Hummers on the road with engine, gearbox, rear air levelling, steering and AC repairs, and we handle high-voltage system diagnostics on the GMC Hummer EV. Visit our Hummer repair page, Hummer H2 repair, Hummer H3 repair and EV repair Dubai pages.
A large V8 creates a lot of heat under the bonnet, and Dubai adds ambient temperatures above 45°C, slow traffic and fine sand. The result is that parts age by heat cycles, not by kilometres. A low-mileage American SUV that spends its life in city traffic can need cooling, AC and gearbox work earlier than the service book suggests.
That is why our American car workshop treats Dubai driving as a severe-service condition and shortens fluid intervals accordingly. Read more about how Dubai heat damages car engines and why some cars lose coolant without a visible leak.
A generic OBD reader only sees engine codes. American cars spread their faults across many control modules, and newer models lock some functions behind manufacturer security. Our American car diagnostic service uses platforms that read every module, show live data, run tests and program replacement parts.
| Brand Group | Factory-Level Platform | What It Allows Our Mechanics to Do |
|---|---|---|
| GM – Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Hummer | GDS2 and SPS2 programming | Read all modules, run AFM/DFM and transmission tests, program new modules and relearn shift adapts |
| Ford and Lincoln | FDRS (newer models) and IDS (older models) | Gearbox adaptive relearn, battery monitor reset, module programming and guided tests |
| Stellantis – Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler | wiTECH 2.0 with Secure Gateway access | Unlock 2018+ vehicles for full diagnostics, air suspension calibration, TIPM and module configuration |
Correct diagnosis is what keeps repair bills down. Our engine repair team and transmission specialists confirm the faulty part with tests before anything is ordered.
Many American cars in Dubai are imported from the USA or Canada. They can be excellent value, but they are not always built or repaired to the same standard as GCC-spec cars sold by local dealers. When an imported American car comes into our garage, we check the points below before quoting.
Thinking of buying one? Run a free UAE VIN check and book a pre-purchase car inspection before you pay.

We price every American car repair in writing after diagnosis. These are the factors that move the final figure, so you know what you are paying for.
A 2.0L turbo, a 5.3L V8 and a supercharged 6.2L need different parts, fluid volumes and labour time.
Genuine GM, Motorcraft or Mopar parts, OE-supplier parts, or quality aftermarket parts – we quote the options side by side.
Some jobs are simple, while others, such as a Ford internal water pump or a timing chain, need the front of the engine dismantled.
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more engine oil, ATF and coolant than a sedan, which affects service pricing.
Fixing the cause once – for example a lifter rather than repeated spark plugs – costs less than repeating the same repair.
Pay by card or split larger repairs into instalments with Tabby at Carzilla.

Yes. Our American car workshop repairs and services Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Lincoln, Corvette and Hummer, including trucks, SUVs, muscle cars and electrified models.
On models with the 8-speed 8L90 or 8L45 gearbox, a light shudder between roughly 50 and 80 km/h is usually torque converter clutch shudder caused by degraded fluid. It is normally fixed with a full fluid exchange using the revised specified fluid and a relearn, provided the converter is not already damaged. Our gearbox specialists confirm it with a road test and live data first.
Dubai counts as severe-service driving. Many of our customers service large American V8s every 8,000 to 10,000 km or every six months, whichever comes first, and change transmission fluid earlier than the standard schedule. We set the interval based on your engine, oil spec and how you drive.
Yes. We regularly repair American cars imported from the USA and Canada. We check the VIN history, previous repairs and module software, and confirm part numbers by VIN before ordering.
What matters for most warranties is that the service uses the correct-specification oil, fluids and parts at the right intervals and is properly recorded. We follow the manufacturer specifications and provide a detailed invoice for your service history. Check your own warranty terms, and ask our service advisor if you are unsure.
Warm air at idle but cold air on the move usually points to poor airflow across the condenser – a weak cooling fan, a sand-blocked condenser, or an incorrect refrigerant charge. On large SUVs a leak in the rear AC lines is also common. Our AC repair team tests pressures to find the exact cause.
