Carzilla is a specialist Ferrari engine repair garage in Al Quoz, Dubai. We diagnose and repair every Ferrari engine family, from the naturally aspirated V8 in the 360 Modena, F430 and 458 Italia to the twin-turbo V8 in the 488, F8 Tributo and Roma, and the V12 in the 599, F12berlinetta and 812 Superfast. Check engine lights, misfires, oil leaks, overheating, turbo faults and full engine rebuilds are all handled in-house by our own Ferrari technicians.
Every Ferrari engine job starts with a proper diagnosis, not a guess. These are the Ferrari engine services our Al Quoz workshop carries out every week. Routine servicing is covered on our Ferrari oil change and service page.
Full scan of the engine, gearbox and body control units with Ferrari SD3 and Leonardo, including freeze-frame data, misfire counters and live sensor readings. We find why the light came on before any part is changed.
Cam cover gaskets, cam variator seals, turbo oil lines, oil cooler lines, timing cover and rear main seal leaks. We confirm the source with UV dye and check crankcase ventilation first, so the same leak does not come back. Read where Ferrari oil leaks come from.
Rough idle, shaking and a flashing engine light are usually ignition coils, spark plugs or injectors. We test each cylinder, replace the faulty parts and clear the adaptations. See our guide to the Ferrari 488 misfire.
Radiator cleaning and replacement, cooling fans, thermostats, water pumps, coolant hoses and pressure testing. Sand-packed radiators are one of the most common causes of high engine temperature in Dubai traffic.
Cambelt and tensioner service on belt-driven engines such as the 360 Modena and earlier V12s, cam variator repair on the F430, and timing chain and tensioner work on chain-driven engines. These are interference engines, so timing faults are never left to chance.
Boost faults, wastegate actuators, turbo oil feed and return lines, intercooler and boost pipe leaks on the twin-turbo V8 engines in the California T, 488, F8 Tributo, Portofino and Roma.
Fuel injectors, high-pressure fuel pumps, fuel pressure sensors and direct-injection carbon cleaning. Low fuel pressure shows up as hesitation, limp mode and lean fault codes.
Cracked exhaust manifolds, failed catalytic converters, oxygen sensors and exhaust valve faults. A cracked manifold on the F430 can send debris into the catalysts, so it needs attention early.
Engine-out strip-down, measurement of bores, bearings and valve guides, machining and rebuild with genuine Ferrari parts, followed by a controlled run-in and full re-scan. Also see our general car engine repair service.
Use this as a guide to what your Ferrari is telling you. The real cause is always confirmed on diagnosis before we quote. For a deeper look, read our article on the 10 most common Ferrari engine problems.
| Symptom | Common causes on a Ferrari | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Check engine light flashing | Active misfire from a coil, spark plug or injector; risk of catalyst damage | Stop driving and book recovery |
| Check engine light steady | Sensor fault, evaporative system, catalyst efficiency, stored misfire history | Book a diagnostic scan soon |
| Rough idle, shaking or loss of power | Ignition coils, spark plugs, injectors, vacuum or boost leak | Diagnose before driving hard |
| Burning oil smell after a drive | Cam cover or variator seal leak, turbo oil line, oil dropping onto the exhaust | Inspect early – fire and catalyst risk |
| Temperature rising in traffic | Radiators blocked with sand, fan fault, thermostat, water pump, coolant leak | Do not keep driving if it overheats |
| Rattle on cold start | Cam variator wear (F430), chain or belt tensioner, heat shield | Inspect before it gets worse |
| Blue or white exhaust smoke | Turbo seals, valve stem seals, coolant entering the cylinders | Diagnose promptly |
| Limp mode or reduced power | Boost fault, wastegate, throttle body, fuel pressure, sensor fault | Scan the fault codes |
| Low oil level warning | Leak, oil consumption, or oil level read wrongly on a cold dry-sump engine | Check level warm and running |
Ferrari has built very different engines over the last 25 years. A naturally aspirated V8, a twin-turbo V8 and a V12 fail in different places, so we work to the engine your car actually has.
| Ferrari engine | Models | Engine repairs we see most |
|---|---|---|
| F131 3.6 V8 naturally aspirated, cambelt | 360 Modena and 360 Spider | Cambelt and tensioner service, exhaust manifold cracks, cam seal and oil leaks |
| F136 4.3 / 4.5 V8 naturally aspirated | F430, 458 Italia, 458 Spider, California | Cam variator leaks and rattle (F430), exhaust manifold cracking, cam cover gasket leaks, coil misfires |
| F154 3.9 / 4.0 twin-turbo V8 | California T, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, F8 Tributo, Portofino, Roma, GTC4Lusso T, SF90 | Ignition coil misfires, turbo oil line leaks, wastegate and boost faults, direct-injection carbon, heat soak |
| F140 6.0 / 6.3 / 6.5 V12 | 599 GTB Fiorano, F12berlinetta, FF, GTC4Lusso, 812 Superfast, LaFerrari, Purosangue | Cam cover and timing cover oil leaks, coolant hose ageing, coil packs, cooling under heat load |
| F133 5.5 / 5.7 V12 | 550, 575M, 612 Scaglietti | Cambelt service, oil leaks, ageing cooling system parts |
| F163 3.0 V6 hybrid | 296 GTB and 296 GTS | High-voltage system made safe before engine work, turbo and coolant circuit checks, hybrid fault codes |
Changing parts until a fault goes away is the most expensive way to fix a Ferrari. Our diagnosis follows the same order on every car.
Most Ferrari engine faults are fixed with the engine in the car. A rebuild or replacement is only advised when measurements show internal wear or damage.
For leaks, misfires, sensor faults, cooling faults and turbo or fuel system problems. Parts are replaced on or off the engine without opening the bottom end. This covers the large majority of Ferrari engine jobs.
For low compression, worn bearings, valve guide wear, scored bores or timing damage. The engine is removed, stripped, measured and rebuilt with new bearings, seals, gaskets and the parts the measurements call for.
For engines with cracked blocks, major crank or rod failure, or damage where a rebuild costs more than a replacement unit. We source and fit the correct engine and code it to the car.
Dubai conditions wear a Ferrari engine differently from European driving. Our article on how Dubai heat damages car engines goes into more detail.
These are indicative prices at our workshop. The final price depends on the model, the engine and what the diagnosis finds, and you always receive a written quote before work starts. Payment can be split with Tabby.

Our Ferrari engine workshop is at 20 C St, Al Quoz Industrial Area 2. We offer Free Pickup and Delivery* across Dubai and arrange recovery for Ferraris that cannot be driven.
It depends on the fault and the engine. At Carzilla, an engine diagnosis costs AED 500 to 1,200, a V8 cam cover reseal costs AED 2,500 to 9,000 depending on whether one or both banks are done, and a rear main seal costs AED 12,000 to 32,000 or more. Turbo replacement and engine rebuilds are quoted after inspection. You receive a written quote before any work starts.
The common signs are a check engine light, rough idle or shaking, loss of power or limp mode, a burning oil smell, oil drips, rising engine temperature in traffic, a rattle on cold start and blue or white exhaust smoke. Any of these should be diagnosed before the car is driven hard.
If the light is steady and the car drives normally, you can usually drive it gently to the workshop. If the light is flashing, the engine is misfiring and unburnt fuel can overheat the catalytic converters, so stop driving and arrange recovery.
The most common sources are cam cover gaskets, cam variator seals, turbo oil lines on twin-turbo models, oil cooler lines and, less often, the rear main seal. Dubai heat hardens these seals faster than mileage does. We confirm the source with UV dye and check crankcase ventilation before resealing.
Most modern Ferrari engines use a dry-sump system, so the oil level must be read with the engine at full operating temperature and running at idle, or through the dashboard where the car offers it. A cold reading often shows a false low level, which leads to overfilling.
