Choosing the best PPF in Dubai is harder than it looks. Most shops claim their film is the best, but every paint protection film brand sells several film lines, and they differ in thickness, top coat, self-healing, warranty and price. In UAE heat, those differences decide whether the film still looks clear in year five or turns yellow, lifts and has to be stripped off.
This guide compares the top 10 paint protection film brands sold in Dubai using manufacturer data sheets and published warranty terms. It also covers what PPF costs in Dubai, why PPF fails in the UAE climate and how each failure is fixed, how to spot fake PPF, and which film suits your car.
Top 10 PPF Brands in Dubai at a Glance
- XPEL – Ultimate Plus, Stealth, Ultimate Fusion
- 3M – Scotchgard Pro Series, PPF Series 150
- STEK – DYNOshield, DYNOmatt, DYNOblack
- SunTek – Ultra, Reaction, Ultra Defense
- LLumar – Platinum, Valor, Platinum Extra
- KAVACA by Ceramic Pro – Ceramic Coated, Instant Healing
- Hexis – BodyFence X range
- Avery Dennison – Supreme Protection Film (SPF-XI)
- Garware – Garware PPF, Protect
- TeckWrap – G75 Titan, S75+ Elite, colour PPF
The numbering is not a strict ranking. The right film depends on your paint finish, how you drive and how long you keep the car.
What Makes a PPF Brand Good for Dubai Heat and Sand
Before comparing brands, it helps to know what actually separates a good paint protection film from a poor one. Every clear PPF is built from four layers, and each one matters in the UAE.
TPU Film Material: Aliphatic vs Aromatic vs PVC
The main body of a quality PPF is thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This is the layer that absorbs stone chips and sand impacts.
- Aliphatic TPU stays clear under strong UV. All the premium brands in this guide use it.
- Aromatic TPU is cheaper but yellows under UV.
- PVC and TPH hybrid films look similar on day one, but they harden, crack and yellow much faster, often within one or two summers in strong sun. They also do not self-heal properly.
Many cheap “PPF” offers in Dubai use PVC or TPH film. That is why a full-body price far below the market rate is a warning sign.
Self-Healing Top Coat
The top coat is a thin elastomeric layer that lets light scratches and wash swirls disappear.
- Heat-activated top coats (XPEL, SunTek, LLumar, 3M and most others) heal with sun, warm water or engine heat. In Dubai the sun does this for most of the year.
- Ambient-temperature top coats (Hexis X-technology, Avery SPF-XI, KAVACA Instant Healing) heal at room temperature without extra heat.
Some top coats are also hydrophobic, so water and dust bead off. STEK DYNOshield, XPEL Ultimate Fusion, SunTek Reaction, LLumar Valor and KAVACA build this into the film.
Adhesive Quality in High Heat
The acrylic adhesive has to hold on a bonnet that can go above 70°C in a Dubai summer, stay clear, and still release cleanly from factory paint years later. Many cases of yellowing and edge lifting start in the adhesive, not the film.
Good brands publish heat tests on their technical data sheet (TDS). For example, XPEL tests Ultimate Plus with 16 days of heat aging at 80°C and peel adhesion after 168 hours at 70°C.
PPF Thickness: Read the Data Sheet Carefully
PPF thickness is quoted in mils or microns (1 mil = 25.4 µm). Brands quote it in three different ways:
- Urethane layer only – for example, 152 µm on XPEL Ultimate Plus
- Total film without the backing liner – 193 µm (7.6 mil) on XPEL Ultimate Plus
- Total including the release liner – some brands quote 300+ µm this way, which makes the film look thicker than it is
Always compare like with like. For reference, the factory clear coat on most cars is only 40–50 µm thick. Thicker film absorbs more impact but is harder to stretch around deep curves, so skilled installers often use a thicker grade on bumpers and sills and a standard grade elsewhere.
Warranty Registration in the UAE
PPF warranty terms are set by region. The same film can carry a different warranty in different countries, and a warranty only exists if a certified installer registers it with the manufacturer. A “10-year warranty” from an uncertified shop is a shop promise, not a manufacturer warranty.

PPF Price in Dubai: How Much Does Paint Protection Film Cost?
PPF cost in Dubai depends on the brand and film line, coverage area, car size, and how much preparation and disassembly the installer does. The ranges below reflect typical 2026 market prices for genuine TPU film.
| PPF coverage | Typical price in Dubai (AED) | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Partial front kit | 3,500 – 4,500 | Front bumper, part of the bonnet, headlights, mirrors |
| Full front kit | 6,500 – 8,500 | Full bonnet, bumper, front wings, mirrors, headlights |
| Full body PPF – entry TPU film | 6,900 – 9,900 | Every painted panel |
| Full body PPF – premium film | 10,000 – 22,000+ | XPEL, STEK, SunTek and similar flagships |
| Full body matte PPF – premium | 18,000 – 25,000+ | XPEL Stealth, STEK DYNOmatt and similar |
Indicative full-body PPF prices by brand in Dubai:
- XPEL Ultimate Plus: about AED 13,000 – 22,000+
- STEK DYNOshield: about AED 9,000 – 15,900
- 3M Scotchgard Pro Series: about AED 6,900 – 14,000
- XPEL Stealth (matte): about AED 20,000 – 25,000
- STEK DYNOmatt (matte): about AED 18,000 – 24,000
Large SUVs and exotic cars are usually quoted after inspection, because the film area and the number of parts removed go up sharply. A full-body PPF offer below about AED 4,000 almost always means PVC or unregistered film. At Carzilla, PPF front kits start from AED 4,999.
Why PPF Fails in Dubai and How It Is Fixed
Even premium PPF can fail in the UAE. The cause is usually the wrong film, a non-genuine roll, installation shortcuts or poor aftercare. Dubai heat makes each one worse, because the adhesive softens and the film expands and contracts with every hot afternoon and cooler night.
PPF Yellowing
- Cause: PVC, TPH or aromatic TPU film; low-grade adhesive; old film past its service life. Yellowish surface stains can also come from exhaust soot, tar and oil absorbed into the top coat.
- Fix: Surface stains can sometimes be cleaned with a film-safe cleaner. True yellowing runs through the film and cannot be polished out – the film must be removed with heat or steam and replaced.
- Prevention: Choose a genuine aliphatic TPU film from a brand that warrants against yellowing in the UAE.
PPF Edges Lifting
- Cause: Edges cut flush instead of wrapped, film overstretched near the edge, pressure washing too close, wax or solvent cleaners working under the edge.
- Fix: A small, clean lift can be reset with gentle heat. Once sand and dirt are under the edge, that piece must be replaced.
- Prevention: Wrapped edges wherever the panel allows, and keep the pressure washer nozzle at least 30 cm from film edges.
Bubbles and Haze Under PPF
- Cause: Small water pockets in the first days are normal and clear as the slip solution evaporates. Bubbles that appear weeks later usually come from solvents escaping from freshly painted panels, which keep outgassing for 30–90 days after a respray. Dust specks come from fitting in an open or dusty bay.
- Fix: Outgassing bubbles mean the film must come off, the paint must cure, and new film is fitted. Dust under a panel means re-fitting that piece.
- Prevention: Wait for new paint to cure fully after auto body shop repairs or a car painting service, and fit PPF only in a closed, clean bay.
Stretch Marks, Adhesive Lines and Orange Peel
- Cause: Film softened by heat is overstretched around mirror caps, intakes and sharp body lines. Lifting and re-laying film too many times leaves adhesive lines. Some films have a heavier orange-peel texture that shows on black and dark paint.
- Fix: The affected piece is re-fitted, using relief cuts or small inlays on deep shapes.
- Prevention: Pre-cut patterns, an experienced installer, and a low orange peel film on dark cars.
Water Spots and Bird Dropping Stains on PPF
- Cause: Sprinkler water and hard tap water leave minerals that bake onto hot film, especially on hydrophobic top coats. Bird droppings are acidic and mark the top coat in the sun.
- Fix: Fresh spots wash off with a pH-neutral shampoo or a water-spot remover approved by the film maker.
- Prevention: Dry the car after washing, park in shade where possible, and remove bird droppings the same day.
Cracking and Peeling on Old PPF
- Cause: Film past its service life, or low-grade film dried out by UV.
- Fix: Slow removal with heat or steam, an adhesive remover that is safe for paint, then a paint check and light polishing before new film goes on. If the paint underneath is already failing, see why car paint peels and how to fix it and how car scratch repair works.
- Prevention: Replace film before it becomes brittle, and never pull old film off cold.
Paint Lifting When PPF Is Removed
- Cause: The panel was resprayed before and the paint layers did not bond properly, or the film was pulled off too fast and too cold.
- Fix: Spot repair or a panel respray. See how to choose the best car repaint service in Dubai.
- Prevention: A paint depth gauge reading before installation shows which panels have been repainted. This is one reason a pre-purchase car inspection is worth doing on any used car.
How to Spot Fake PPF in Dubai
Because the big brand names carry a premium, copied and relabelled rolls exist in the market. Check these points before the film goes on:
- Exact film line on the quote and invoice. It should say “XPEL Ultimate Plus” or “STEK DYNOshield”, not just “XPEL film” or “premium PPF”.
- Authorised installer. Check the brand’s own installer locator or ask for the installer’s certification.
- Warranty registered to your VIN. Ask for the warranty card or registration confirmation from the manufacturer’s system at handover.
- Branded roll and batch number. Genuine rolls carry brand labelling, a batch code and usually a printed liner.
- Technical data sheet. A genuine film has a published TDS with thickness, adhesion and heat-aging tests.
- Price far below the market. A flagship full-body film at a fraction of the normal price usually means a different film.
If you are buying a used car that already has PPF fitted, ask for the original invoice and warranty details. A UAE VIN check and a paint inspection will show whether the film is covering repaired panels.
Which PPF Brand Is Best for Your Car?
Best PPF for New Luxury and Exotic Cars
Fit PPF straight after delivery, before the first highway run chips the bonnet. XPEL Ultimate Plus, 3M Pro Series or Series 150, STEK DYNOshield, SunTek Ultra and LLumar Platinum all suit new Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Bentley models. Pick the brand with an exact pre-cut pattern for your model.
Best PPF for Matte and Satin Paint
Matte paint can never be machine polished, so any etch into the clear coat is permanent. Protect it only with matte film: XPEL Stealth, STEK DYNOmatt, SunTek Ultra Matte, LLumar Platinum Matte, 3M Pro Series Matte, Hexis BodyFence matt or KAVACA Black Matt. This applies to matte Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini finishes.
Best PPF for Soft Italian Supercar Paint
Many Italian factory finishes are softer than German clear coats and need gentle paint correction before film goes on. Our Lamborghini paint and repaint guide explains why soft paint needs extra care.
Best PPF for Highway and Desert Driving
Large SUVs that cover long highway distances or drive on sand tracks take heavy damage on the bumper, sills and the area ahead of the rear wheels. Use a thicker grade there – LLumar Platinum Extra, SunTek Ultra Defense, XPEL Ultimate Plus 10 or Hexis DFENCEXTRM – and a standard clear film on the rest of the car. This setup is common on Range Rover, Mercedes G-Class and Lamborghini Urus models.
Best PPF for Colour Change
Gloss-black and colour PPF – XPEL Ultimate Plus Black, STEK DYNOblack, LLumar Select Black, KAVACA Black or TeckWrap colour PPF – combines a new look with real chip protection. A vinyl wrap or peelable paint costs less but protects less; see our car wrap or paint comparison. A change of body colour is recorded on the vehicle registration, so check the car modification rules in Dubai first.
Best PPF for Budget Daily Drivers
A front kit in a genuine TPU film from 3M, SunTek, Garware, Avery Dennison or TeckWrap protects the areas where most chips land. Combine it with ceramic coating on the rest of the car – our ceramic coating vs PPF guide explains the trade-offs.
PPF for Carbon Fibre and Body Kit Parts
Exposed carbon parts have a clear lacquer that suffers from UV and stone chips just like paint. Clear PPF protects mirror caps, splitters and diffusers from carbon fibre kits and body kits.
How to Make PPF Last Longer in UAE Heat
- Wash by hand with a pH-neutral shampoo, and rinse the sand off before anything touches the car. The difference is explained in car detailing vs car washing.
- Avoid brush car washes, which drag grit across the film and catch edges.
- Keep pressure washers at least 30 cm from film edges.
- Never use cutting compounds, solvents or strong degreasers on PPF.
- Let the sun heal light marks. On heat-activated films, wash swirls usually disappear after the car sits in the sun or is rinsed with warm water.
- Use only film-safe coatings, and check with the film maker before adding a coating over a film that already has a hydrophobic top coat.
- Protect headlights too. Film over the lenses slows yellowing – see our guide to headlight restoration and paint protection.
- Have the film checked once a year, ideally during routine servicing in line with luxury car maintenance schedules for the UAE.
